#ContemporaryAThon Round 6 TBR 📚💕

Now that I'm back to posting videos over on my channel, I'm excited to start making a return to readathon-ing and vlogging my experience! One of my very favorite readathons - ContemporaryAThon - is making a comeback next week and I am excited to join in on the fun. I've been reading a lot of particularly sad books in 2020 for some reason, and I'm hoping that indulging in some contemporary next week will be a bit of a palette cleanser. I need some joy in my reading again! 😂 

Like every round of ContemporaryAThon, there are 7 challenges that you have the option to try and meet. Being a more laid back readathon, the hosts encourage double/tripling up on the challenges, which I totally take advantage of these days. (Remember the days when I could read 7 books in a week? Who even was I?) Anywho, here are the challenges that the hosts are putting forth this round, which I'll be spreading across 3 books:

4. Read a book with an illustrated cover

5. Read a dark or hard-hitting contemporary

CONTEMPORARYATHON ROUND 6 TBR

The Friend Zone by Abby Jiminez

This is the Read Your Face Off Book Club buddy read selection for January/February! Jess and I are planning to buddy read this together early on in the week and I can't tell you how excited I am to pick up a light-hearted romance. It has been such a long time since I've picked up something fluffy like this and I'm hoping I fly right through it. I'll be taking it on my trip to New Orleans with me this weekend (I don't fly back until Monday night) so it will be good to have something light for the trip home!

Not So Pure & Simple by Lamar Giles

This is my January Book of the Month box pick to read this month (more details in my 2020 Goals post, if you're curious!) and I am so excited to get to it! Reviews are mentioning that it is quite hilarious, which is definitely what I'm looking for in my books right now. I think this is going to be so entertaining and hopefully it's something that I won't want to put down.

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

Unlike the other two reads for the week, I know that this book is going to be a TOUGH read. I put this on my TBR for the last ContemporaryAThon I participated in (and let's be real, I barely participated) but I never got around to it. I wanted to put it back on for this round because I know it's a favorite of a LOT of folks in the bookish community, it's been on my shelf for quite some time, and I've heard nothing but positive things about it. I will be honest -- I am quite nervous to read it based on the subject matter. I'm planning to save this one as my last book of the week so I have a chance to read some happier books. I hope that I enjoy this one, and I think I will. It's just going to be a toughy!

The February round of the Read Your Face Off 24 hour readathon is the weekend of ContemporaryAThon as well, so if I'm feeling like I have a bit of wiggle room in my reading life before then I'll update here with what books I'll be reading in addition to my reads for ContemporaryAThon. I hope that a lot of reading will be happening next week, and I hope that recovering post-marathon will encourage me to pick up books while I'm resting!

ContemporaryAThon Round 5 TBR (BEDA Day 17)

One of my favorite readathons to participate in, ContemporaryAThon, is returning next month! Because I can't resist building a TBR, I of course needed to create one for this round as well. II'm super early to the party (this round is September 23-29), but I wanted to share the books I'd like to read during the readathon with you all because I am STOKED to read each one of theses! I really don't think I'll be able to get through all of these, but I'll give it the ol' college try as I always do. I'm unsure if I'll vlog (it hasn't been a great year for vlogging), but I have over a month to decide that so I'm not too worried!

#ContemporaryAThon Round 3 TBR!

One of my favorite readathons, the ContemporaryAThon, is returning next week (September 17-23)! I really love how laidback this readathon, and I've found that the group of folks that host and participate in this readathon are all so lovely to read with throughout the week. It's been a little while since I've participated in a week long readathon, so I'm excited to see how much reading I will accomplish next week. I hope you all will participate as well!

Vlog: #ContemporaryAThon Round 2

Last week I took part in the second round of the #ContemporaryAThon! I absolutely love this readathon. It's super laid back and it gives you the opportunity to read some really fun and light books which is always a great time! I had a really successful week of reading and actually got my whole TBR completed! I also complained a lot about the cold and watched a lot of the Olympics. Basically staying true to my brand.

One of the most fun and laid-back readathons that I've participated in is coming back next week and I am thrilled that I'll be able to participate! This round will be taking place between February 12th and February 18th and is hosted by the lovely Julie, Chelsea, and Natasha. ContemporaryAThon does have reading challenges to help you build your TBR, but they're completely optional. Vlog: #ContemporaryAThon!

Last week I participated in the #ContemporaryAThon! This was such a brilliant idea to focus on just reading contemporaries for the duration of a readathon. Contemporaries are so much fun and such a breeze to read so I'm happy the Chelsea and Julie came up with this idea! I had a really fun week focusing on my TBR and also hit a very exciting milestone on my channel! Hit play to see what I got up to over the course of the week. #ContemporaryAThon TBR!

GUYS! I'm so excited for this readathon! A few weeks back, Chelsea and Julie announced the ContemporaryAThon which, pretty obviously, is a readathon that encourages you to read exclusively contemporaries for a week. I am ALL ABOUT THIS! Contemporaries are usually so much fun to fly through and such feel-good reads and honestly, that's what I need in my reading life right now. I am so excited! :D The readathon will be 7 days (November 13-19, 2017) and Chelsea and Julie are encouraging folks to just have a low-key fun time, which I'm totally here for.
