Vlog: The Cursed Child Release! {July 25-31, 2016}

On this week's vlog I take Brett on a surprise date to get ice cream and watch the sunset over the valley which was beautiful! I also make another trip up to New Hampshire to see my family where I ran my half marathon training run then floated in the lake and ate friend clams with my parents. I also (of course) stayed up 'til Midnight on July 31st for the release of The Cursed Child! It was delivered to my Kindle and I may or may not have read it all within 24 hours.... #oops. I hope you enjoy! :)

Causeway Street

There's a property in Brett's hometown that opens its gates to the public during the holidays and puts on a pretty extravagant light display for anyone who cares to see. All that is asked in return is to donate to the Salvation Army, whose volunteers waited patiently with their bright red buckets at the midpoint as you drive through. Brett took me on a bit of a holi-date last week to see the lights, and I was so thrilled to see the display that he had tried to explain to me in the days leading up to our visit!

Brett helped with the photography!

I love that Brett has been showing me a bunch of his usual holiday traditions. He grew up close to where we currently live, and it's nice that he has some knowledge of fun things to do this time of year! :)

What are some traditions you have during the holidays?

Big Night In

Since Brett and I are saving our pennies for bigger and better things, it's been a little while since we've been able to have a date night. Lucky for us, we get to spend a lot of time together, but nothing beats doing something special with your someone special. Last night we decided to go on a date, right in the comfort of our living room!

We put on some music, opened a bottle of wine, cooked a wonderful meal, and had a nice romantic candle lit dinner together (consisting of gourmet burgers and mac n' cheese - YUM), followed by a dessert of fresh fruit and some Mad Men on Netflix. That's a pretty amazing date in my book!

Our amazing spread!

My awesome burger, topped with cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, avocado, spinach, and tomato. Drool.

It's great to take the time out of our lives to have some 1-on-1 time and really appreciate one another.

Have you ever had a date night in your own home? Share your stories in the comments! :)
