Race Review: Running from the Stadium to the Sea & Another New PR!!! // Los Angeles Marathon Weekend 2020

Brett and I ventured out west a few weeks ago for marathon #14 - the Los Angeles Marathon! We left on an over night flight on the 6th which was brutal. We left Boston at 9:30pm EST and landed in LA at 1AM PST. WOOF. So thankful that Brett's cousin Stevie and his wife Yvonne was willing to take us in and cart us around for the weekend. (Shout out them for carting us around all weekend and showing us a great time!) We got back to the house around 2:30am and was greeted by signs that their daughters had made for us. They are so adorable! 😭

We woke up around 7:30AM the next morning which was a bit surprising, but maybe being on east coast time messed with our ability to sleep for longer. 😂 Our plan for the day was to head into LA (we were staying a bit outside the city) to hit the expo then grab a bite to eat. But first, shakeout run! I ran 2 miles around the neighborhood which was so needed after being on a cross-country flight for 6 hours. I must have felt great because my second mile was the fastest mile recorded on my Garmin to date. Woops! 😂

I showered up and we hit the road for LA. We made a stop for breakfast (Chick-fil-A, our fave #chickenbiscuits), popped by to see Brett's aunt, and picked up Yvonne before heading over to the LA Convention Center for the expo! We, of course, also needed to make a stop at Starbucks because I was essentially falling asleep standing up. I needed energy before wandering the vendor booths!

This expo was HUGE and pretty well organized as well. All of the bib and shirt pick up was up front so if you only wanted to grab your race packet you could quickly grab it and leave, but they had dozens of vendors and photo ops so we wanted to take full advantage. We could have definitely stayed at the expo for a while to check everything out! I think we were there for about 30-45 minutes or so just seeing what was around.

Gotta get all the pre-race photos with the bib!

After the expo we stopped at a restaurant across from the Staples Center called Tom's Watch Bar which has the MOST TVs I've ever seen in a restaurant. We were watching literally every sports event that was happening in the United States at the same time. 😂 I grabbed a bite to eat and drank my water while everyone else got to enjoy cocktails. (Probs the worst part of marathon weekend - not being able to indulge with everyone else until after the race. 😜🍹) We had a good time just chatting and planning what race day would look like. It's always so amazing to know there's folks in my life willing to sacrifice their weekends to support my crazy marathon endeavors!

We headed back home in the mid-afternoon to get ready for the next morning. We were about to lose an hour of sleep to daylight saving's so bedtime had to be early. 😩 I laid out everything I needed, packed my Camelbak, used the therapy gun on my legs, set my alarm for 3AM, and finally got into bed around 9pm. Here's my flat runner:

-USA Marathon Maniacs jersey
-Richmond Marathon finisher hat
-Cheapo don't-care-if-I-lose-or-break-them sunglasses
-Cropped leggings
-Handful Y-Back sports bra
-Brooks Adrenaline 19s

Not pictured: my Camelbak, stuffed with gels, blocks, and salt tablets

Fake 3AM (really 2AM) slapped us all in the face on race morning. I popped out of bed to get ready since we were hoping to be on the road by 4. Yvonne very kindly made me a breakfast smoothie (which was DELISH) and I am so thankful that she did that for me because I totally would have forgotten breakfast if she didn't. 😳 I don't know what it is about race morning but sometimes I get so focused on how the run is going to go that I forget everyhting else. Again, SO THANKFUL that I have amazing people around me to help me take on these 26.2 beasts!

I knew traffic on race morning was going to be nuts and we had tried our best to prepare for it. We got to the Dodger Stadium area by about 5:15am - about an hour and 45 minutes before the race started - but we still were stuck in so much traffic trying to actually drive up and park at the stadium. We waited in line for a while until we saw other runners hopping out of cars and walking their way to the stadium. Brett and I eventually decided to do that same with the hope that Stevie and Yvonne could meet up with us at the start before the race, but as we walked up the road we quickly realized that there was no way they would be able to make it to the stadium and park before I started running. Such a bummer! Definitely plan ahead when it comes to the starting line because with 27,000 runners + their loved ones all driving to the same place it will take you a long time before you can actually get there and park.

"Before" pics are always essential!

Luckily the walk wasn't so bad (maybe 10-15 minutes?) and it was actually good to get my body moving before the race! Brett and I found a spot in the parking lot and he put me through a dynamic warm up before heading over to the corrals (trainer boyfriend perks!). I was in the open corral which meant that we were the last to start, but I believe the majority of the field was in the open corral so you could just hop in wherever. After the elites and seeded corrals were off, it was our turn! I really appreciate that they didn't do a waved start for the open corral. Despite the fact that the corral was so big, we moved quickly and I was on the road about 15 minutes after start time - not bad!

The first few miles flew right by. This course is so much fun. There's people everywhere (spectators and runners alike), there's LA landmarks at almost every mile, and there's just so much to look at! This marathon also encourages folks to go for Guinness World Records during the race so lots of people dress up. I saw a guy running in a bear mascot suit (see the vlog below for a clip!), folks running while dribbling basketballs, I even saw a runner at the finish line dressed in a full suit (INCLUDING dress shoes - OUCH). No matter where you look on the course there is entertainment

Mile 1 - 10:49
Mile 2 - 10:31
Mile 3 - 10:21
Mile 4 - 10:34
Mile 5 - 11:06
Mile 6 - 11:04
Mile 7 - 10:41

Despite the rolling hills of this course (which honestly I was not very prepared for), I was moving along at a pretty good clip and hitting my paces. I was staying on top of my fueling plan and it seemed like everything was clicking! The only thing I was worried about was that I needed to find a restroom but every single porta-potty stop had a huge line. I figured by maybe mile 7 the lines would have maybe died down but that was not the case at all. There were lines at every bathroom stop for the entire race which I have not seen at a marathon before. This year's field of runners was the biggest LA has seen and they did not prepare to have enough resources for all 27,000 of us.

Between mile 7 & 8 we had the best view of the Hollywood sign!

Was contemplating stopping for a quick matinee of Hamilton 😋

Mile 8 - 10:33
Mile 9 - 10:33
Mile 10 - 10:25
Mile 11 -  10:43
Mile 12 - 10:45
Mile 13 - 11:31
Mile 14 - 11:11

The stretch between the 10k point and the half marathon point wad my absolute favorite part of the course. There was a beautiful stretch where we ran downhill and could see the Hollywood sign in perfect view in the distance, we ran down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and I even got to see Brett, Stevie, and Yvonne right before mile 12! I was definitely still feeling fairly energetic through this stretch despite the hills putting my legs to the test. I also found a 5:00 pace group around this time that was doing run/walk intervals so I ran with them for a couple of miles before needing to fall back a bit.

Trucking down Rodeo Drive

Mile 15- 10:58
Mile 16 - 15:04*
Mile 17 - 12:43
Mile 18 - 12:08
Mile 19 - 12:17
Mile 20 - 12:10
Mile 21 - 12:30
*bathroom break around mile 15.5 killed my time on this mile!

After mile 15 the hard work really set in. I finally made a bathroom stop at mile 15 and had to wait in line for a few minutes. This *might* have been where my sub-5 went to die, but I also know that if I waited any longer it would have messed with my run. You never know with the marathon what factors are going to impact your race! I decided to make a stop so I didn't have to think about my bladder for another 11 miles. After the break, I ran through Beverley Hills blasting Weezer (because you have to), enjoyed the Cheer mile at 19, and really had to focus on staying hydrated from mile 20 on as the temperatures started to rise. At this point I was chanting "sub-5, sub-5, sub-5" to myself to drive out all the negative thoughts that were trying to creep into my mind and ruin my race.

Brett, Stevie, and Yvonne tried to see me a second time but I'm pretty sure I passed their second spot before they were able to get there. 😭 This is an adorable picture of them holding the signs for me, though!

Mile 22 - 11:43
Mile 23 - 11:44
Mile 24 - 13:07
Mile 25 - 10:59
Mile 26 - 11:14
Mile 27 - 5:38.7

The last miles were TOUGH. It took a lot of mental fighting to keep myself moving forward. I didn't make a single stop after hitting the bathroom at 15 which I was proud of myself for, but I did need to take walking breaks here and there. (It's my goal to build my mental toughness and physical fitness so I will keep running all the way through 26.2!) Mile 24 was SO CHALLENGING because it was ALL UP HILL. 💀 At that point I knew that a sub-5 was pretty unlikely (runner math is never fun haha) but I knew another new PR was in reach. After I crested the hill it was all downhill to the finish line. I put my head down and gave it everything I had for the rest of the race. I was able to see Brett and Yvonne right at the finish line and I puuuuuuuuuuuuuussssheed through to the end...

AND I SET ANOTHER NEW PR AT 5:03:01!!!!

I am so stinkin' proud of being able to set two marathon PRs within a month of each other. I worked so hard to become faster during the last training cycle and the hard work paid off. I am still working my way to sub-5 but I know that it will come with more time and training. I can't wait to see that 4 at the beginning of my finish time some day soon! On to Seattle! 😉

To be honest the finish area is kind of a mess. Santa Monica being a beach town, there really isn't a ton of room for people to get around (ya know, because of the ocean being right there and all). After you cross the finish line, you have to walk about a quarter of a mile to get out of the finish area. I understand why races have to do this but I'm never a fan of it. All I want to do is sit down! Once I finally got out of the finish area I found a patch of grass to sit on for a while as I waited for Brett to navigate the crowds to come fin me. Because so much of the finish is roped off to spectators and there is just a billion people everywhere it took him a while to actually find where I was. It's just SO MANY PEOPLE and SO MANY BARRICADES at the finish that you really should pre-determine a meeting point at the finish with your loved ones. It's not easy at all to link up close to the finish, so make sure you make a plan. Either way, I was so happy when Brett finally found me and we were able to celebrate another new PR!

After the race, we stopped for lunch at the Water Grill right near the finish line. One of the biggest highlights was getting to meet up with our pals Carly and Kirby! We hadn't seen them in a few years and I was so good to see them. I had a delicious plate of fish & chips (highly recommend!) while we caught up and I recovered from the race. Before we left we had to snag some photos with them before making a plan to not wait to long before seeing each other again!

I wanted to finish up this post recognizing how fortunate I was to actually run this race. LA was one of the last marathons to stay on schedule (the week following LA it seems like everything got cancelled), and now amidst so many race cancellations and postponements I feel very lucky that I was able to run all of my scheduled races this winter. It just makes my experience at the 35th Annual LA Marathon that much more special.

Non-Racing & Non-Travel Life Update!

Hey everyone! It has been a MINUTE since I've sat down to do a general life update. How are you guys?? Clearly, I've been super busy over these last few weeks between travel, running, and work entering the busy season, so life updates like these tend to be last on my priority list, but I wanted to take some time to check in with y'all! Because I'm not sure what order to do this update in, here's a bunch of unrelated photos from my phone to help you get up to speed on my non-racing and travel life!

After 3.5 years, we finally got new phones! After my trip to Disney it really became apparent that it was time to retire the ol' 6S and trade it in for something with a better camera and a better battery life. It was getting to the point where I was asking Cassie to take all the photos during our trip just because her camera was so much better, and I was needing to charge my phone multiple times a day. It just wasn't practical to have my old phone anymore! So when I got home, Brett and I ordered iPhone XRs and I am LOVING IT. I'm still getting used to it because it's a lot more advanced than the 6S (I've never felt older tbh 😂) but the photo quality and the fact that I don't have to charge it for nearly two days is amazing. PLUS the fact that my phone is yellow and I have an adorable Pokemon phone case makes me oh so happy! 💛

I've been on a huge Sour Patch Watermelon kick as of late. I snapped this pic earlier this week. Work's been particularly hectic lately and grabbing a pack of these at the gas station before my commute home has been my go-to stress relief. 🍉😂

Last week after returning from Disney I was experiencing some serious overuse pain in my feet, ankle and calves. Brett helped me throughout the week to roll out, stretch, and massage. Knowing I had LA around the corner was really stressing me out so I did my best to rest up and stay off my feet as much as possible. I didn't want to get injured by pushing too hard! Saturday was my first run back post-Disney. I was nervous to run because I wasn't sure how my body would react, so I tried to make it feel easy. I unintentionally ran sub-10's the whole time, ran negative splits, and somehow PR'd my 5K time on my Garmin??? 😳

Now my true 5K time was run at some point before I had a Garmin. I believe it is somewhere in the 27's, but it's been lost pre-Garmin history. 😂 I believe that I can get back to that range one day, but for now I'm just so psyched at how great that run felt and how fast I went without pushing myself too hard. Progress, people! PROGRESS!!!

Stats from the run, and the adorable badge on Garmin Connect for Leap Day! 🐸

I've been saying I've been needing a new medal rack for a while now (truly, it's stuffed to the brim) and I was really considering purchasing one after getting my gorgeous medals from Princess Weekend. Sneaky Brett decided to beat me to the punch and bought me one himself! I love the saying on the one he picked out for me - Fear No Distance, Stay Strong and Run Long. I haven't had a chance to hang it up yet, but hopefully once everything settles after LA I can hang it and start adding medals!

Brett *also* decided to treat me to a pair of Nike running shoes! (I'm honestly so lucky, y'all.) We hit up the Nike Store when I got back from Florida because he needed new shoes himself. Once Brett had picked out the shoes he wanted, I was curious to see if they had a pair of Vaporflys jst to try on and see what all the fuss was about -- they didn't 😪. Even so we looked around the women's section a bit and Brett pointed out the pair of Air Zoom Winflo 6s in the photo above and I gave them a try. When I tried them on and gave them a little jog I knew I wanted to take them home, so Brett very kindly added them to his stack of shoes and treated me to some discounted Nikes ($45!). I will be sticking with my trusty Brooks through LA (I just bought myself some new Adrenaline 19s!) since I'm used to running longer distances in those, but I'll definitely be trying these out when I start training for my next couple of races to see how they feel!

Went and got my civic duty done yesterday after work on Super Tuesday.
Will I ever stop being excited about getting an "I Voted" sticker? Probably not. 😂

On my way into work this morning, good ol' Dory hit 200k miles! My little Versa has been such a great car over these almost 8 years (!!!) that I've had it. I'm sure a new car is somewhere close on the horizon, but I just love my car so much and I know it's going to be a sad day when I'll have to say goodbye to it!

This weekend we are jetting off to LA for the Los Angeles Marathon and to visit with some family. I'm actually so excited to experience the LA Marathon for the first time. I've heard amazing things about the course and the crowd support! I've found that I really enjoy big races because I love being surrounded by runners during the entire run, so I'm sure I'm going to have an absolute blast on Sunday. I think my goals for Sunday will be the same as they were for the Rock n' Roll New Orleans Marathon:

A. #SUB5ORBUST!!!
B. Set a new PR - I now have to beat 5:04:13 in order to set a marathon PR!
C. Sub-5:30
D. Just finish! 😄

Either way the race and the trip will be an absolute blast and you'll of course be getting plenty of post-race updates here on the blog! If you'd like to follow along during the weekend, make sure you're following me on Instagram and Twitter as I'm sure you'll find plenty of updates on those two platforms. Wish me luck on #Sub5orBust attempt #2!

#Sub5orBust: Week 15 Training Update (January 27 - February 2, 2020)

Monday, 1/27 → Rest
Tuesday, 1/28  7 mile run (treadmill)
Wednesday, 1/29 → Rest
Thursday, 1/30  Rest
Friday, 1/31  3 mile run (treadmill)
Saturday, 2/1 Rest
Sunday, 2/2 →
5 mile run (treadmill)

IT'S OFFICIALLY RACE WEEK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Can you tell I'm feeling ALL THE FEELINGS? 😂 I'm so excited and nervous and confident and curious and PUMPED for Sunday. It's going to be so great! I didn't stretch at all last week which was really dumb of me. I feel like everytime I make a promise to myself that I'm going to stretch it just does not happen. Sooo.... this week I WILL NOT STRETCH AT ALL!!! Reverse psychology, right? 😜

For real though, all I have on the docket this week is two 3-milers and a two mile shakeout on Saturday. It's all about taking it really easy this week, (not) rolling out, (not) stretching (#reversepsychology), hydrating and getting my mind right. I'm going to try to make my diet really clean this week as well so I'm not feeling super blah on race day. I'm actually hoping to do a "what I ate during race week" post to share with y'all later on this month, so we can see if what I eat this week will translate on the course in NOLA. Stay tuned! I just started reading Let Your Mind Run by Deena Kastor today, so I'm hoping that will give me some things to think on during the race on Sunday as well.

Because there won't be too much to report on my training this week, this will be my last training update for this cycle! I'm hoping that this training cycle will take me through Rock n' Roll NOLA, Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and the LA Marathon in March. I'll of course be doing several maintenance runs between races but in terms of a training program, I won't be hopping into another one until post-LA. Crazy!! Again, I'm really proud of myself for sticking to this program and completing 99% of my assigned workouts. This is the best I've ever done during a cycle and I am so excited for Sunday. It'll be a victory lap for sure!!!

#Sub5orBust: Week 14 Training Update (January 21 - January 26, 2020)

Tuesday, 1/21  Rest
Wednesday, 1/22 → 7 mile run (treadmill) + stretch
Thursday, 1/23  Rest
Friday, 1/24  35 minute run (treadmill) + phase 3 lift + stretch
Saturday, 1/25 → 10 mile run
Sunday, 1/26 → Rest

Third to last week of training is COMPLETE! ✔ I'm not sure why everyone says they get "taper crazies" because honestly I'm really enjoying the extra time in my schedule to hang out with Brett, read, and do normal things that I haven't had time to get to while I've been training! Maybe I'm weird? Haha. 😂

I did my FINAL DOUBLE-DIGIT RUN of the training cycle on Saturday morning! I went out for 10 in the morning and while it was a chilly one, I felt really motivated to try and beat my 10 mile run from week 3 of training. I wanted to see if I could see any difference 11 weeks later, and I definitely did! I pushed myself harder than I think I would have if I didn't try to beat this time, but I managed to shave off a whole 4:46 of my 10-mile time! It definitely was tough (dem hillz) and my legs and lungs were burning like crazy for most of the run, but I beat my time by almost 5 minutes. I LOVE seeing results of my training written out in black and white!

I'm not sure I've ever seen that average pace over that many miles! 😱

Crazy splits as usual. You can probably tell which miles had long stretches of uphill running. 😂
I also love that Garmin gave out a Lunar New Year badge! 🐭

I'm honestly really proud of myself for this training cycle, and I think that's the first time I've been able to say that about any marathon training cycle. I really put in a lot of hard work this time around. I really fought against making excuses and lack of motivation. There were a lot of times where spending hours at the gym or on the roads was the very last thing I wanted to do, but more often than not I pushed through. My training was by no means perfect, but I can say that I've tried my very hardest and I'm going to continue trying my hardest moving forward. My attitude has shifted when it comes to training and I can't wait to continue to see what I do as a runner.

This week I have a 3-miler, a 5-miler, and two 7-milers on the schedule. The good news I'm now done with strength training so I can just concentrate on my runs! I also plan to do lots of stretching and foam rolling (I'M SERIOUS THIS TIME 😂 ) and some research on pre-race diet. These next two weeks are critical in getting muscles stretched, diet right, and mind in a good place to toe the line on race day. We're firing on all cylinders, people!

#Sub5orBust: Week 13 Training Update (January 13 - January 20, 2020)

Monday, 1/13 → Rest
Tuesday, 1/14  5 mile run (treadmill) + stretch
Wednesday, 1/15 Rest
Thursday, 1/16  Rest
Friday, 1/17  3 mile (treadmill) + phase 3 lift + stretch
Saturday, 1/18 4 mile run (treadmill) + phase 3 lift + stretch
Sunday, 1/19 → 4 mile run (treadmill) + phase 3 lift + stretch + therapy gun

Monday, 1/20  14 mile run (treadmill) + stretch

I'M SO DANG TIRED, Y'ALL 😩

I know I'm in taper but I am SOOOOOOOOO FREAKING TIRED. It was a struggle to get myself out of bed all week last week. All I wanted to do was sleep. I'm going to choose to believe that this is my body's way of telling me that I'm doing a good job of doing the hard work of training and I need to do a better job of doing the easy work of resting. That's logical, right? 😂

Because of my tiredness I did flip around my scheduled runs a bit. Of course, I was supposed to run 14 over the weekend, but I wanted to take advantage of my days off this weekend and sleep in as much as I could. On Sunday I woke up when my watch went off at 7 (it starts pestering me to move at 7am every morning) but knowing just how tired and sore my body was, I chose to get some more sleep instead. I ended up sleeping until 10 FREAKING AM which I haven't done in a long ass time. It honestly felt so good and I know that my body needed it so much. So, instead of pushing myself to fit in the 14 miler on Sunday, I switched in my Monday workout (which is from the week 14 schedule) and then did my 14 miler on my day off yesterday. Easy peasy!

It has been truly January the last few days. I'm not a runner who will suck it up and run in single-digit weather for more than 2 or 3 miles, so yesterday - with a real feel of 5-degrees outside - I sentenced myself to 14 miles on the treadmill. It's never fun to run for that long of a distance, no matter how much Netflix or YouTube you have queued up. I've been watching a lot of runDisney vlogs from Marathon Weekend and getting so excited for our trip for Princess Weekend. I watched a few of those in addition to ultra marathoner vlogs (which always keeps me inspired). I also fueled the way I have been fueling on my long runs for the past two weeks, but for whatever reason the Clif Blocks did not sit right in my tummy yesterday. I think it might because I ate a breakfast sandwich *right* before running, but there's always a number of factors. I'm hoping it was just a fluke!

Post-long run scene of the crime.
(For those who are curious, the treadmills at Planet Fitness only allow you to exercise at 60min intervals, so it looks like I didn't go too far. Trust me, I did! 😂)

This week -- because I did my 4 mile run & phase 3 lift on Sunday -- I only have a 7 mile run tomorrow, a 35 minute run & lift on Friday, then I'm thinking I want to do my 10 mile long run on Saturday so I can just be lazy on Sunday. Friday will be my final lift day which is exciting! So proud of myself that I stuck with both my running and lifting plan during this cycle (with a few exceptions) and I'm hopeful that it will make a huge difference on race day.

19 days til I toe the line in New Orleans!

#Sub5orBust: Week 12 Training Update (January 6 - January 12, 2020)

Monday, 1/6 → Rest
Tuesday, 1/7  Rest
Wednesday, 1/8 4 mile run (treadmill) + phase 3 lift
Thursday, 1/9  5 mile run (treadmill) + stretch
Friday, 1/10  Rest + therapy gun on my legs
Saturday, 1/11 → 20 mile run + stretch
Sunday, 1/12 Rest

Peak week is over and it's now time to taper! I will admit that my second 5 mile run and second phase 3 lift that was scheduled for the week did not happen. Not really sure what the deal was with that, but we're back on the horse with the first week of tapering. Tapering has historically been me just.... not running. 😂 So this time around I want to focus on:

-Continuing to hit my scheduled work outs
-Eating well and keeping junk to a minimum where I can
-Stretching and foam rolling
-Getting my mental game right; THE POWER OF POSITIVITY, Y'ALL
-Hydrating until the cows come home

I want to have a good taper this time around. It's the last four weeks of preparation before the big day and every moment counts. I can't slip back into bad habits when I'm so close. I want that sub-5!

With week 12 being peak week, I had my 20 mile run over the weekend! The forecast called for beautiful a 60-degree and sunny day on Saturday and 60-but-rainy on Sunday. The weather changed and BOTH days ended up being beautiful, but I had already planned to run on Saturday so I got the weekend off to a productive start. Again, I had a really great long run which I'm so happy about! I stuck to the fueling and hydration plan I used for my 18 miler and it still worked so well. My legs were feeling pretty tired a bit sooner on in the run, and that could be because I had done my 18 miler just 6 days before, but I still managed to stay well under the 11:26/mi target pace. I can't tell you what a confidence booster that is heading into the taper!

My splits look a bit wonky in the first few miles. I accidentally bumped the lap button on my Garmin when I stopped shortly after mile 1 to fix the hose on my Camelbak (it had a nice kink in the hose so I couldn't drink anything 😂). I didn't realize I did this until the mile 2 split didn't beep and I had to manually hit the lap button to get back on track at mile 3. RUNNER PROBS! Either way I'm still quite happy with my splits. I really tried hard to push in those later miles when I got down to that 11:26/mi split on mile 17 & 18, and it helped me feel confident enough to go a bit faster for mile 19 & 20. It always feels so good completing that last long run before the taper, and I'm really proud of Saturday's run.

So now it's the taper - arguably the trickiest part of the training cycle. The name of the game is to rest your body as much as possible while still staying active, getting stretched, eating enough but eating well, sleeping sleeping sleeping, and getting your mental focus in place. At this point I've put in the hard work and now I need it to settle into my legs (and mind!) before race day. It's a lot to manage but I'm looking forward to actually doing the things I need to do during this taper instead of turning into a coach potato for 4 weeks before my race which I've definitely done in the past. 😂 WE'RE SO CLOSE, YOU GUYS!!!
