Ever since I was little, I've LOVED my mom's homemade banana bread (or as I like to call it, 'naner bread). Now that I'm living on my own, I've learned to make it myself! It's not the exact recipe that my mom uses, but it still comes out pretty darn good (if I do say so myself), so I decided to share the recipe with you all! :)
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2-4 ripe bananas
(meaning they should be more brown than yellow, as shown in the photo above) - Optional: 1 cup of chocolate chips or nuts. I usually like my banana bread plain, but Brett likes chocolate chips so I add those in for him. :P
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
(I'm American, so I'm using Fahrenheit in this recipe. The conversion to Celsius is 176.6 degrees!)
2. Mix all of your dry ingredients together. (Flour, salt, baking soda, and brown sugar.)
3. Peel your 'naners and mash them up in a separate bowl.
4. In yet another separate bowl, beat your eggs.
5. Add your wet ingredients ('naners, eggs, and butter/margarine) to the dry ingredients bowl. Mix well.
6. Add your nuts or chocolate chips to this mixture if you're using them in your recipe!
6. Add your nuts or chocolate chips to this mixture if you're using them in your recipe!
7. Pour mixture into a greased bread pan.
8. Place the pan in the oven for about 60-65 minutes. Depending on the amount of batter you make, the bread may take a little less or a little more time than that.
9. After the time is up, stick a toothpick or a fork into the center of the bread. If it comes out batter-y, leave in the oven for a little longer. If it comes out clean, it's all done! :)
Try eating the bread warm with some butter or cream cheese on it. To die for!
I hope you all enjoy this deeeelicious recipe! :)
Yum, I love homemade banana bread! My mom used to bake it when I was a kid so every time I have some, I think of my childhood.
